Seneschal:
Was approached by Carolingia about possible joint ventures and they offered to help at events.
The Date for the Hafla has Changed. Have spoken to MEMEC about using this site for the Hafla. Permission given for new date and use of kitchen
MEMEC Is fine with us filling holes in the area that we fight, but they might be re-dug as they are installing a basketball court.
We can use MEMEC Overnight
Have reserved MEMEC for the EKU in case it is needed.
Exchequer:
Our new Exchequer (Lady Eleanor Le Brun) is now warranted.
We have just over $6,000 in our bank account at this moment.
Herald
Nothing to Report except he is standing down for someone more suited for the post.
Historian

Mistress of Arts and Science
OPEN
Knight Marshall (Acting)
Tuesdays are a good day for practice. People are showing up from Loch Levin. Proposed we get a second marshal for meeting days. Loch Levin has expressed interest in our Tuesday Practices.
We are looking for another practice site for heavy list fighting. Several sites are being considered. A few shire members are working on contacts to get us a second practice site.
Marshal of Fence:
Kingdom Crusades went well. Shire made a decent showing.
Will now be leading more practices.
We now have most of the supplies for the punch-tester.
Old Business:
Coronation:
Was a great day, We shared our potluck day board with the people of the Shire of L'ile du Dragon Dormant and the Barony of Ruantallan. They sent a lovely thank-you note.
The windows were delivered to Their Majesties as they sat in state.
The Kingdom Crusades went well; our toys were given out to the children, to the delight of all.
New Business:
Damian Proposed, Faolan Seconded the acceptance of the new Knight Marshall. Passed unanimously.
Two Letters of intent for Mistress/Minister of Arts and Sciences, have been recieved, one from Duchess Anne and one from Lord Faolan. This will mean a ballot voting at the November meeting.
We are also accepting Letters of Intent for Herald and Chaelaine. Deadline for those letters is before the start of the November meeting.
The Hafla is now set for January 15th. It will be the same weekend as the Exchequer Symposium. The dancers couldn't come on the date that was planned, So they said they could come on the 15th.
The two events will be on the same weekend, but if the Symposium is held on January 16th, it would work out as the Hafla will be all cleaned up by then
The Exchequer Symposium will be opened to others who are interested in learning what is involved in the office of exchequer, so they will be aware of what it is, in case they wish to volunteer to be an exchequer.
Both of these events are free.
Lady Thora is not able to attend but we have permission to use the Kitchen at MEMEC on the 15th of January for the Hafla.
The East Kingdom University will be on February 19th, which is a saturday
Oxford High School has approved our use of their facility for the EKU. We will be required to hire a kitchen janitor as well as a reular janitor, but we will have no fee for the use of the facility.
The Maximum fee would be around $420, and $200 will cover a light day board, so the budget should be around $660.00
If the Weather co-operates, we should make a small profit, given an estimate of around 70 people attending. The event fee was discussed, and altho it was to be $12.00, upon further discussion,
the decision was made and agreed upon to make it $10.00 per person. We should still break even at 70 people.
We will have 8 Classrooms, the kitchen, cafeteria, and gym. We are actively looking for teachers. Note that ideas for classes need to written up as a proposal.
Alan moved, Damian seconds that we approve the budget. Passed unanimously.
Cassandra wants to hold dance classes in Groton. They would be on Sundays from 7pm-9pm. there is no site charge. The classes will be in Middle Eastern Dance.
Harold Moved, Alan Seconded that we approve the classes. The Motion passed unanimously. Classes will start this sunday.
Directions to the classes in Groton can be found HERE
A swap meet is being considered. Carolingia may be interested. It would happen during another event on a Sunday. Eleanor is the point person for the swap meet. Vicky knows of a source of canvas for a good price.
For Birka, we'll put together a Queen's Gift Box.
Lady Eleanor Le Brun has volunteered to Autocrat Boredom War '05. Vicky has offered to co-Autocrat.
The shire needs a volunteer to coordinate a Pot Luck Yule. Please contact Lady Isabel directly.
There is some discussion of doing some demos in the spring. Some of the shire members have contacts at WPI.
To the shire of Qunitavia greetings
Duchess Anna Ophelia Holloway Tarragon sends warm greetings:
I would like to put in my application for the office of Arts and Science for our fair shire.
I have been in the SCA for well over 20 years, My experience includes, holding several offices on the Shire, Baronial, Principality and Kingdom levels. I have autocrated and/or feast autocrated a number of events in both kingdoms as well.
If given the chance to hold this office I would like to arrange classes, and instructors for the shire. I would also like to set up arts exhibits and/or competitions for the group, and any other ideas that might come along. I have a laurel for my work in the areas of costuming, needlework, cooking, and liquor making. I am very happy to share what I know with anyone that asks, (or can't run fast enough). I am a paid member of the SCA, and I have lived in the shire for 7 years.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter
I remain:
In Service to the Dream
Duchess Anna Ophelia Holloway Tarragon
